High season runs from mid-December through Easter week and spring break. Resorts & vacations are often booked through October as well, when the local sport fishing season is at its peak. The Cabo San Lucas subtropical oasis offers 350-plus days of sunshine each year, with cool winter evenings, very low humidity, and fresh sea breezes.

Once used as a frequent provision stop for pirates awaiting passage of the Manila Galleons, today Cabo San Lucas has evolved from a sleepy hideaway for recluse fisherman and yacht owners into one of Mexico’s most popular resort destinations.

Cabo San Lucas is also unique in its striking desert landscape, dry climate, and “great outdoors” unspoiled beauty. Visitors are surrounded by a dramatic coupling of endless cactus desert, backed by cinnamon mountains, and bordered by miles of sandy beach and clear, azure waters. Because of its geographic separation and isolation from mainland Mexico, a conspicuous “north-of-the-border” atmosphere and attitude give the area an appealing cultural duality. There’s no denying the luxury resort’s strong Mexico-by-the-sea atmosphere.

An interesting variety of tours and excursions attract Los Cabos vacationers. Aside from a full agenda of Los Cabos-area attractions, there are numerous other sights throughout southern Baja: ancient cave paintings, whale-watching in Pacific Lagoons, the charming seaside city of La Paz, the village of Todos Santos, and the rugged but scenic East Cape and Sierra de La Laguna mountains. These and other sights are within driving distance (or a short flight) from Cabo San Lucas, and accessible as part of a day or leisurely overnight outing. Choose from the luxury of escorted tours, or rent a car or jeep and venture out to view Cabo San Lucas' attractions on your own!

Undoubtedly there’s more to do in “San Lucas” (as locals call the city) and lots more people out and about than it its quieter sister city of San Jose. Its busy marina draws visitors for boat excursions and to the sport fishing dock to see the day’s catch.

In Cabo San Lucas, visitors are treated to whale watching tours from January through April. Of the world’s approximately 2,100 gray whales, an estimated 11,000 make this journey of over 10,000 miles to bear their calves and frolic in Pacific Coast lagoons to the north of Los Cabos. Many continue south, veering around land’s end and into the warm water of the Sea of Cortes.

Cabo San Lucas golf With names like Jack Nicklaus, Raymond Floyd, Hale Irwin, Dave Stockton, Tom Weiskopf, and Lee Trevino, coupled with course designers like Dye Designs, Robert Trent Jones II, and Golden Bear, it is no wonder that Cabo San Lucas has come of age as Latin America’s premiere golf destination with numerous top golf courses, including the highly rated El Dorado links. (Luckily for “golf widows,” the area also boasts top-drawer resort spas.) Los Cabos is the home for the PGA Senior Slam and has earned its place in the international golfing community. Hit the links at 4 of the top 10 golf courses in Mexico!

Crystal blue water and desert sandy beaches create an alluring duo of natural beauty. There are some twenty distinct beaches to explore, all accessible to the public. Most offer seclusion and quiet.

In Cabo San Lucas, there’s Playa Medano. It begins at the mouth of the marina and slopes to the west for some two miles. Calm conditions makes this Cabo’s main playground, offering complete water sports equipment rentals, crystal clear water, and several luxurious seaside restaurants.

Venture out by panga or glass bottom boat to Playa del Amor for simple seaside relaxation and marvelous snorkeling. Playa Solmar on the Pacific Ocean side has pounding surf, a vast desert-like beach, and awesome rock-cliffs…not for swimming, but a real beauty!

Deep Sea Fishing: In the opinion of many experts, Los Cabos has the finest deep sea game fishing in the world. The Sea of Cortes is one of the most prolific fishing grounds on the planet. No other destination can rival the attractions of Los Cabos for the abundance and variety of game fish caught and released every year. The area holds numerous world records, and over 50,000 marlin (blue, striped, and black) and sailfish are hooked each year (nearly all of which are released). 800 species of game fish are caught including dorado, wahoo, yellowtail, sea bass, cabrilla, grouper, and rooster fish.

The growing recognition of Cabo San Lucas as a prime diving destination has brought with it the professional instructors, guides, and the specialized dive boat necessary to be ranked alongside Cozumel, Belize, and Hawaii as a must dive destination.

Cabo San Lucas has some fine surfing areas at Acapulquito Beach, Playa Costa Azul, Playa Barco Varado, and Playa Cabo Bello.

Los Varriles and Buenavista are regarded as one of the world’s ten best wind surfing areas. Jet skis, wind surfing and hobie cat rentals, as well as parasailing and kayaking are available in Cabo San Lucas.

The attraction to Cabo San Lucas’ world-class spas is evident. Cabo San Lucas resort spas offer a variety of luxury services, including relaxation, stress control, weight reduction, beauty treatments, exercise programs and tours. You will find Classic Vacations resorts and spas offering first class facilities, state-of-the-art equipment and professionally trained personnel.

Cabo San Lucas offers a wide range of shopping attractions including boutiques, gift shops and galleries. Lined with dozens of shops, from open-air bazaars to fine designer boutiques to souvenir shops, Cabo San Lucas offers an amazing shopping experience!

Dining is varied in Cabo San Lucas and offers dozens of choices. Settings showcase the area’s luxury, unique ethnic culture, and desert-by-the-sea surroundings. Many establishments feature prime American beef and fresh imported produce. ¡Buen Provecho!

Cabo San Lucas has a varied inventory of luxury hotel rooms and relaxing lodging accommodations. Soothing luxury villas and haciendas are scattered around the region. Cabo San Lucas Attractions

El Arco El Arco
The boat ride to El Arco should not to be missed. This naturally-hewn rock formation at land’s end was carved by centuries of pounding waves and wind. You can either rent your own skiff in the marina or at Medano Beach, or head out on an escorted glass-bottom boat.

Lover's Beach
The excursion to Lover’s Beach (Playa del Amor) is fun. This remote, although increasingly crowded cove, offers an ideal picnic spot with its calm waters, excellent snorkeling, and towering stone cliffs.

Lighthouse at Cabo Falso
The old lighthouse at Cabo Falso lies a few kilometers outside of Cabo San Lucas. The abandoned shell of the original building rests atop sand dunes overlooking the cape. Access is only by horseback or all-terrain vehicles, both of which can be rented in downtown Cabo.

Fabrica de Vidrio
See artisans at work at the small glass factory that produces beautiful hand-blown items.

Fishing Fleet Docks
Wander to the marina in the afternoon to see the fishing boat return. There’s also a sprawling open-air market selling handicrafts and clothing.
